New Jersey Opens Urban Agriculture Subcommittees

As part of a pathway forward to uplift and support New Jersey's urban agriculture producers, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture is creating subcommittee groups that align with the key challenges identified by the urban agriculture community. This is a direct opportunity for insightful, solution-focused conversations with the state — and a place where the voices of urban and underserved growers can shape what comes next.

The five subcommittee areas

• Farmland Access — securing land and long-term tenure for urban producers
• Zoning and Land Use — making municipal code work for food production
• Education and Training — building the next generation of growers
• Aggregation and Food Security — the supply chain, food hub, and distribution work
• Marketing — reaching buyers, institutions, and neighborhood markets

How to participate

If you have not signed up already, you are invited to join one or multiple groups. Sign-ups close on August 26, 2026. Complete the state's form at https://forms.cloud.microsoft/g/YdFmdxce7W — and share it with your networks.

Following sign-ups, the Department will hold a virtual introductory meeting to welcome participants and walk through the vision and goals of each subcommittee group. More information will be sent out soon.
